Sharp Corporation today announces the appointment of Doug Albregts to the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp Electronics Corporation (SEC), their wholly owned subsidiary that manages the Americas business. As part of Sharp Corporation’s recent strategic alliance with Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Albregts will officially succeed Toshiyuki Osawa, who previously held the position. This new role comes in addition to Albregts’ existing position as President of Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA) which manages Sharp’s Business to Business Operations.
Albregts joined Sharp as President of SIICA in 2011, responsible for the strategic direction and performance of SIICA’s industry-leading business solutions, including multifunction printers and professional and commercial displays for the United States.
“The appointment of Doug Albregts to this important position is a testament to the success of the local leadership of the business solutions team at SEC over the past few years,” said Tai Jeng Wu, President and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp Corporation. “With the many great opportunities in the B2B space, SEC will focus on growing and diversifying its business technology in the Americas, working in synergy with Hon Hai’s vast experience in this sector.”
Prior to joining Sharp, Albregts held several executive positions within the industry, including Vice President, Enterprise Business Division, for Samsung Electronics of America and General Manager at Canvys, a division of Richardson Electronics. Albregts also held a 12-year tenure with NEC, culminating as Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development for both the commercial and consumer market segments.
“I’m truly honored to be named President and Chief Executive Officer of SEC,” said Doug Albregts. “My main objective is to ensure financial stability and growth for products and services of SEC in the Americas. The additional resources and reach obtained by working with Hon Hai opens up an exciting new future for us.”
Albregts is well-respected and trusted among the organization’s dealer community. He is credited with transforming business processes and vastly increasing the profitability of the B2B division since joining Sharp in 2011 as President of SIICA.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Doug Albregts for many years, as part of the Sharp Dealer Advisory Council, and most recently in my new role as Chairman of the Council,” said Mark Miller, Eakes Office Solutions President. “His results-oriented approach and proven track record have helped grow the SIICA business, allowing the dealer community to continue to flourish. This is a significant and positive development for our collective efforts and business.”
