AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – February 4, 2014 – Expanding on its mission to create AV solutions for an IT world, at Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2014, AMX® responded to the market's frustrations with clumsy, retractable cable designs and messy conference room tables. The new AMX HydraPort Cable Retractor Modules were logically designed specifically to work smoothly and seamlessly, require no adjustments and ensure second to none video and audio fidelity. AMX also introduced two new HydraPort Dual USB Modules that offer the convenience of two USB modules in a 1 HydraPort unit size for connecting to a network and/or charging devices.

 

Early in the design phase of the new Retractor Modules, AMX realized the answer to a better solution was the cable itself. Too many competitors chose to use off the shelf cables that were never designed to be rolled up. Instead, AMX designed new cables that ensure efficient, trouble-free retraction and AV fidelity that exceeded that of standard cables. And if general functionality and ease of use weren't enough, AMX retractor modules also handily beat the competition in overall size by being 85% more compact.

 

AMX HydraPort Retractor modules deliver a compact, easy to install solution that organizes and hides cables in virtually any type of conference table, including narrow tables and those with glass inlay. These modules require no assembly, no adjustments or terminations and install quickly and easily with no special mounting. Each of the four new Retractor Modules support a specific AV format (HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet and RGB with Audio) and can be installed in any of the 600 900 or 1200 HydraPort base assemblies. Flat, high-speed, cables powered by RedMere® are integrated into each module to ensure the absolute best picture and audio quality in a compact design.

 

To ensure a completely streamlined, out of sight installation, AMX also offers these same flat cables as standalone accessories for connecting modules in the table to equipment racks, displays and other AV equipment located in other locations of the room. Their ultra-flat design makes them ideal for use under carpet or anywhere a flat cable is desired.

 

The announcement of two new Dual USB HydraPort Modules reinforces AMX support of the popularity of BYOD environments by doubling the number of USB ports in a simple module and maximizing HydraPort real estate while lowering cost. For applications where both network connectivity and charging are needed, the Dual USB Module with Printed USB Symbol are available. For applications where full USB power charging for mobile devices is required, the Dual USB Module with Printed Charging Symbol module are also available.

 

AMX is demonstrating its new HydraPort Cable Retractor Modules, Flat Cables and Dual USB Modules in AMX Booth 1-F6 at ISE 2014, held in Amsterdam, February 4 – 6, 2014. All of these components are now shipping globally.
